Massachusetts just received the highest ranking for the best schools in the U.S. Why, because almost every school has a school library. In our town, every school, grammar school to high school had a school library with at least one school librarian. Want smart and educated kids? Start with a great school library staffed with a professional librarian. Libraries get kids interested in reading, keep them in school and give them a second place to study and to work on group projects. Libraries support the curriculum providing materials and books to encourage lifelong learning, compassion, curiosity and well-rounded students. Librarians can grow a child’s curiosity about dinosaurs into a later interest in biology or paleontology, a question about a plant, might be the seeds (pun intended) for a future gardener, farmer or environmentalist. It starts with school libraries and enthusiastic school librarians. The kids we are teaching today will be the leaders of tomorrow who will have big problems to solve. Teach them now and grow their minds with libraries.

Someone said that you could evaluate a town by looking at its school building. That building should be the most beautiful of all because it represents the future. It’s the current generation’s investment in the next. I believe that the library should also be specified in that evaluation.

We respect the service you provide and hope that our small donation will help continue that work.
