SEND AN EMAIL: Save School Librarians in Hays CISD
Hays CISD is planning to cut their secondary librarians and we need your help!
Hays CISD recently decided to decrease their nine secondary librarians to TWO librarians to oversee all the middle school and high school libraries. Hays CISD secondary libraries serve over 13,000 students. This would mean that two librarians would manage 13,000 students - unable to meet their needs.
Hays CISD librarians matter to students. As one student wrote: “Without being able to read and work in the library I honestly would not be here today. In every way my high school librarian and library saved my life.”
Librarians manage reading and literacy experiences for students, teach classes on doing research, hold bookfairs, manage STEM and Makerspaces, participate in a Battle of the Books competition encouraging student readers, manage Chromebooks, and more - reaching thousands of Hays students and preparing them for college and careers.
Please customize this email to our elected board members and ask them to reconsider their decision so that our students can be well prepared for their educational futures.
