In The Mighty Macy, a student finds her voice to stand up for her school library when it’s at risk. That story is real for students across the country. When school libraries are underfunded, understaffed, or restricted, students lose access to the tools they need to succeed. This April, we’re asking students, families, educators, and community members to take a simple step and take the pledge to "Be Mighty for Their School Library."
Signing the "Be Mighty for Their School Library" pledge is just the beginning. Here are three ways to turn your commitment into action:
1. Take Action in Your Community
Support school libraries where decisions are being made.
Whether it’s sending a message, attending a meeting, or sharing information, your voice helps protect access.
2. Bring Authors and Reading to Students
We’re partnering with the One Word at a Time Foundation to connect schools with their Author Study program.
- Learn how your school can participate
- Share this opportunity with an educator or librarian
- Enter or nominate a school for the upcoming drawing
Help bring the joy of reading directly to students.
3. Support a School Library Collection
Help ensure students have access to the books they need and love.
Through FundLibraries.org, you can:
- Support an existing campaign
- Start a fundraiser for your local school
- Share a campaign with your community
