We are now at a critical time to take action on behalf of the amendment that is before the DC Council to ensure students have access to their school libraries!
The proposal "Student Right to Read Amendment Act" is now with Chairman Mendelson to bring up for a vote.
If this does not make it to a vote before the upcoming election, this will never come up for a vote. EVERYONE must commit to doing the following within the next 7 days:

- Email your DC Council Representative using this form. Reach out to our retired librarians, clergy and community members and encourage them to use this form to send their own emails.
- Talk/communicate with parents at your school. Connect with parents during parent meetings, in the parking lot, via social media and ask them to contact their DC Council representative to bring up the Right to Read Amendment act up for a vote.

If we do not take action NOW and complete the above tasks, students will lose access to their school libraries again after three years of fighting to maintain them.
Everyone needs to urge D.C. parents to write letters to support the education of their children. If we don't, children will lose out on their access to school libraries and books.
The time has come for YOU to help.
