PETITION: Fund Library Staff in Carroll County Schools

Sign the petition and tell Carroll County Board of Commissioners to fund Library Media Specialists, Media Clerks, Interventionists, and other Essential Library Staff

Fully funding our school libraries in Carroll County puts them on a path to academic success. Library staff are vital for a number of reasons:

  • Library media specialists teach and support students and staff to be effective, responsible, and ethical digital citizens in a changing technological world.

  • Library media specialists are specially trained to connect students with a variety of reading materials that create a culture of reading and curiosity.

  • The research is clear that library media specialists and their unique knowledge of reading and technology are directly linked to improved academic performance, as well as college and career readiness, as part of the total academic program.

For these reasons we ask Carroll County Commissioners to do all in your power to prevent cuts that will hurt our students that need access, not only to library media specialists, but also library clerks, reading and math interventionists, and so many other positions that enrich and support their learning experience.
